Dalgona Candy Recipe

Good morning all !

Today I wanted to present you a simple recipe related to Korean cuisine.

It is a question of making biscuits called "Dalgona", these have become very popular since the publication of the series "Squid Game". In this series the participants in a morbid game must pass tests to survive, one of them consists in detaching the form in a biscuit without cracking it.

The word "Dalgona" 달구나 means "it's sweet" in Korean, it is a very popular cookie among children since the 60s-70s. So we understand that it is a sweet treat.

For the realization of the recipe, you will need:

-2 tablespoons of white sugar

-1 quarter of a tablespoon of baking soda.

Let's get to the instruction now:

1. Melt the sugar in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir gently for about two minutes, or until the mixture turns a pale yellow color.

2. Stir in the baking soda and whisk the mixture before removing the pan from the heat. Continue whisking until the baking soda is completely dissolved. The device will become foamy and double in size.

3. Pour the mixture onto a piece of parchment paper and flatten it slightly with a spatula. Press a small cookie cutter in the center of the candy to print a pattern. Let cool for 2-3 minutes.

Of course it is not mandatory to use molds to make shapes, here I only give it if you want to recreate the cookies like in the series.

So let me give you some advice for the preparation: It is very important not to burn sugar. Stir constantly and control the heat source. Once you add the baking soda to the melted sugar, the mixture will foam immediately and can burn quickly.

Although the recipe is very simple, it still takes practice before you can do the recipe well, but once it's done, all you have to do is enjoy and have fun performing the test. like in the series !
